Microneedling is a popular treatment for skin rejuvenation and the treatment of mild scarring and textural changes. Microneedling began in 1905, but has recently become more popular with the development of enhanced technology. Microneedling devices create tiny injuries to the skin, stimulating a healing process that induces collagen remodeling. Microneedling may be used as a stand-alone procedure or in conjunction with IPL, laser treatments, or other procedures to improve skin appearance. Microneedling does not replace existing techniques of chemical peels or laser treatments but can enhance the outcomes of these procedures.
Microneedling requires the use of topical anesthetic (numbing cream) prior to treatment. Depending on the goal of treatment and the skin’s condition, your skin will be pink and swollen after treatment for as little as a day to several days. As microneedling is not a one-size-fits-all approach, Dr. Biesman and his skilled staff will perform a thorough assessment of your skin and recommend the appropriate treatment to help achieve your aesthetic goals.
