Restylane Silk® is a hyaluronic acid based injectable filler which was introduced in 2016 to the US marketplace after approximately 16 years of availability in Canada and other countries. This product features a very fine small particle size. making it smooth and soft. This in turn makes Restylane Silk, ideally suited for use in the lips, lines around the mouth and on the cheeks, and other areas of the face in which superficial lines are present. It may also be used to correct hollowness under the eyes, a condition commonly referred to as “tear trough “ defects.
Restylane Silk is often used in combination with more robust injectable products which are designed for deeper lifting and contouring. It can also be used to complement laser resurfacing and botulinum toxins such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin to achieve optimal aesthetic outcomes.
Like other HA fillers, Restylane Silk is administered via injection. Bruising and swelling can occur after injection. The relative likelihood of this depends on the location the product is placed, the volume of product used, and a variety of other factors including use of blood thinners which have either been prescribed by a physician or which are available as nutritional supplements such as vitamin E and fish oil.
