A NEW YEAR AHEAD!

HomeBlogA NEW YEAR AHEAD!

It’s a new year, and many are ready for change! While we wholeheartedly believe in being kind to yourself and realistic about any goals you decide to set this year, we also want you to know that we are here to assist with any adjustments you may want to make this year.

If you’ve ever considered undergoing an aesthetic procedure, you may not be aware that January is a great time to act. With cold temperatures, little sunshine and COVID still a concern, we’re likely to spend more time inside and away from the sun. When you do leave your home, you’re likely to bundle up in layers like turtlenecks, scarves and masks: which are convenient for recovering from swelling, redness and bruising. These factors make this an optimal season for recovery or downtime that we recommend to our patients who undergo a variety of procedures that are more involved. If you’re interested in learning more about some options that are available to you, Dr. Biesman is here to help!

IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO REDUCE WRINKLES OR IMPROVE SKIN QUALITY…

Laser skin resurfacing rejuvenates tired, wrinkled skin producing a fresh, youthful appearance.  Whether you are young and have fine wrinkling or have earned your deeper wrinkles over time, there are a variety of resurfacing procedures available to suit your needs. Skin resurfacing clears brown discoloration that’s often caused by sun damage, smooths wrinkles, tightens your skin along the jawline, eyelids, the perioral region with wrinkles and lines around the mouth, and other areas. It also improves the texture and appearance of scars. Depending on which treatment is recommended for you, some recovery may be required. Learn more on our website or contact our practice to schedule a consultation with Dr. Biesman to see which is right for you.

Another great way to improve the quality of your skin tone, texture and radiance is Fraxel®, a non-invasive treatment for patients who want to look younger without dramatic changes or extended downtime. We recently started offering this treatment again and are excited about the results we’re seeing. Book a consultation with our practice to see if you’re a suitable candidate.

IF YOU’RE INTERESTED IN SURGICAL REJUVENATION OF THE EYES…

Eyes are one of the first places we see signs of aging. Over time, excess tissue in the eyelids begins to sag and can add a heaviness to the eye area. One possible solution to this problem is blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery. During this procedure, Dr. Biesman makes a small incision hidden within the eyelid’s natural fold to remove or reposition the sagging tissue. The surgery usually takes between 60-90 minutes and can be performed either in an outpatient surgery center or at our office. This procedure helps to rejuvenate the eyelid area and create an overall more youthful appearance. About 80% of bruising and swelling that occurs is usually resolved within the first two weeks but some downtime is still required with this procedure. Book a consultation with Dr. Biesman to see if you’re a suitable candidate.

Sometimes the culprit of our heavy eyes isn’t actually caused by the eyelids. Often, sagging eyebrows can contribute to the appearance of weighed-down eyelids. Patients often come to Dr. Biesman inquiring about eyelid surgery when they actually are in need of a forehead or eyebrow lift instead. In this procedure, Dr. Biesman uses tiny telescopes, inserted through small incisions hidden behind the hairline to elevate the eyebrows and eliminate deep forehead or frown lines. The best way to determine whether you’re a better candidate for eyelid surgery vs. a forehead or an eyebrow lift is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Biesman so he can assess your needs and advise what’s best for you. Again, this surgery requires some downtime for recovery, so you’ll want to schedule at a time that you can take it easy at home.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO TREAT ACNE SCARS…

Dr. Biesman has worked with acne scarring patients for more than 20 years and can provide a treatment plan that’s customized and most effective for your needs. This can happen using a variety of tactics. In a subcision procedure, a tiny cannula is used to release the scar from the underlying deeper tissues holding the scar, allowing the depressed area to become somewhat shallower. Another method uses newer laser and energy-based technologies, including non-ablative fractional skin resurfacing, ablative fractional resurfacing, RF microneedling, platelet rich plasma, and others. In instances where acne scars create divots in your skin, we can often simply inject a filler to counteract that effect. Sometimes, none of these efforts are enough and acne scars require surgical removal. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to treating acne scars and often a combination of these efforts is required for optimal results. Contact our practice so Dr. Biesman can advise which makes the most sense for you.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO ENHANCE, RESTORE OR BALANCE YOUR FEATURES…

Have you ever wished you could enhance certain facial features or restore aesthetic balance that may have been lost with time? Dr. Biesman offers a variety of nonsurgical injectable techniques to help maintain a youthful and healthy appearance with no downtime.

Certain injectable fillers are chosen when patients want to enhance areas of their face, such as plumping thin lips or adding volume to the apples of their cheeks. Sometimes the goal for many of our patients is less about enhancing and more about rejuvenating the overall appearance of their face. In these instances, Dr. Biesman uses injectable fillers to restore lost volume to specific facial structures, thus reestablishing youthful contours and balance. This can be the balance between the upper and lower face, the lips and face, the upper and lower lip, the jawline and cheek, or any other combination. Injectables are a minimally invasive technique with little to no downtime that can help you feel more confident. Book a consultation with Dr. Biesman to see which are right for you.

These are merely a few of the many procedures available at our practice and we are here to support you in whichever interests you! Now is a busy time of year at our practice, so be sure to get an appointment scheduled as soon as possible to ensure you can get on Dr. Biesman’s calendar in the time frame that you desire.
